a world gone by

There isn't much more that needs to be said: these beautifully melancholic photographs of buildings that once stood proud, do my job for me. Aren't they just extraordinary? The endless streams of colour palettes make me feel a little heady and crazy alert at the same time. (It's a problem...)

You may wish to have a look at this guy's photostream; I had a really hard time deciding on which ones to use as he has so many great shots.

  2. Yes, I agree. Can you just imagine the beautifully turned out couples sashaying through the corridors and stairwells and the flurry of activity preceding the big dances? The decay seems to enliven the spaces; reminding us that they once lived.

  4. Yes, you'd want to watch your footing, though... Did you have a look at the rest of his work? Unreal. What a talented guy.

  5. Lynne, I'm going to assume you mean all four - they are all, equally beautiful. In their own way, of course!

  6. I did check out his work and it is amazing! I've wandered through a few abandoned houses in the U.S. but nothing like that. The 'bones' of those places have so much character. A bit hard to find in the U.S.
