slick styling: mikael beckman

I found this (via Desire to Inspire), and felt the need to share. The clean lines and blocks of colours that make up these images are expertly pulled together. Wonderful stuff.

dutch design darkly

I don't have the time to post this week, but I just had to put this up... Just divine - not sure I could live in it, but the proportions and layout are great. Here's the website (I found this via my favourite blog 'Desire to Inspire')

where fashion meets architecture: Roksanda Ilincic & David Adjaye

                                                   Henrik Knudsen

The Kings Cross home of fashion designer Roksanda Llincic and her husband Phil Bueno del Mesquita is a glam-chic space created with low-budget materials. It may surprise you to learn that is was once a loading bay - the way they've interpreted the space is pretty extraordinary.

Working closely with architect David Adjaye they have created an environment that explores the use of light and dark as  focal points, defining an area and drawing the eye to a favoured piece. The result: an atmospheric space that is an undeniable extension of her fashion line.  Gorgeous.

boards to get you in the mood...

Here's a couple of mood boards that I made earlier this year. I love putting together images researched, along with drawings made onsite during the initial meetings with clients, and not forgetting the all important colour palette. I find this to be a far more productive way of visualising the conversation between myself and the client as apposed to rendered drawings which can be limiting when it comes to managing client expectations.

a is for accessories

There's something so pleasing about the use of accessories in these images...

(I don't have time today to write a proper post, but I've got something cooking for tomorrow...)

pedaling colour

                                    Heather Jenkinson Design

Pretty palettes can be spotted whilst cycling around the most regular of places: my neighborhood. Puddles in pock marked pavements and shopping bags bouncing against coloured tights tucked into worn boots are some of the millions of scenes that get filed away, only to re-emerge in momentary flashes of genius. As it happens, they can also be found online on Flickr.

Kim Has Cats, who you may know from the wonderful blog Desire to Inspire, took this photo of a hydrangea which I used as the inspiration for this bedroom completed in March 2009. I think it works rather well, don't you?
